Is It Time for a Career Change? Yes, You Can Afford It!!

Do you know of someone who is considering a career change? Do you know anyone who:

  • is unemployed or underemployed?
  • does not like what they are doing?
  • does not want to continue to work for a supervisor they don’t like?
  • wants to start training for something different?
  • is tired of hoping that a job will “just come along”?

The Landscape and Horticulture Certificate Program offered through Midlands Technical College’s Corporate and Continuing Education division is an excellent way to make a positive career change. The program is low-cost compared to many other professional certification programs ($6 to $9 per hour for class work instruction), and the coursework can be completed in the evening, allowing the student to work full-time while taking classes. The curriculum includes technical soil and plant instruction as well as business management information and landscape construction guidelines.

To help prospective students decide if this opportunity is right for them, Midlands Technical College (MTC) and Jungle Taming are piloting a test “sampling” program whereby students can attend one of the class meeting dates listed below for free (registration is required). If they like what they see, they can enroll in an upcoming course and/or pursue the certificate program.

The following courses, taught by local landscaping legend Ron Cowart, are available for sampling on the days and times indicated below.  Please note that an individual may sample one class only, and registration is required.  Ron, along with several other highly talented and skilled instructors, conduct the entire certificate program. It’s a great opportunity to decide if a career in landscaping might be the change you’ve been looking for. All courses are taught at the Northeast Campus of Midlands Technical College located near the intersection of I-77 and Farrow Road in the Research Park across the street from the Northwoods Golf Course.

These courses are just a sampling of the wide variety of courses offered in MTC’s Landscape and Horticulture Certificate Program. All courses are taught by highly experienced instructors who know what it takes to be successful in their field.
